Airport Managers

Pre-requisites

  • This course is intended for personnel with a working knowledge of the aviation industry and wildlife strikes.

What we offer

The purpose of this course is to inform participants on the most efficient and safe ways to comply with ICAO SARPS concerning airport wildlife management in order to reduce the number and severity of wildlife strikes at International airports.

The International Airport Wildlife Management Training for Airport Managers is a comprehensive two-day course that addresses the issues set forth in the ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices. Wildlife strikes are an international aviation safety issue. Many countries have standards, recommendations and even regulations with regards to wildlife management at airports in order to control the number of wildlife strikes and ensure passenger safety. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a specialized agency of the United Nations, has a set of Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS) on airport wildlife control that became effective November 27, 2003. The 191 member states of ICAO are required to follow these standards, which address assessing the risk posed by birds, discouraging the presence of birds at airports and eliminating or preventing bird attractants on airports. The International Bird Strike Committee (IBSC) has developed a Recommended Practices guide of Standards for Aerodrome Bird/Wildlife Control to complement the ICAO requirements.
